You have to start to organise yourself, look for places where to get stuff (food, hygiene products, clothes etc.). It's good to get some hints and tipps from people who are already living here since a longer time. Last week I needed to go to the hairdresser. So of course it has to be one, who speaks at least some English, to whom you can explain, how you want it to be done. Got a tipp from someone who is already many years in Ho Chi Minh City. Result was ok. However I've been told, that 8 USD is very expensive for a Hairdresser here. Maybe I try something else next time.
Still I find the traffic amazing, an endless flow of scooters:
The big skyscraper is the so called Bitexco Financial Tower. One of the landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City:
I've been inside already couple of times, since it is a huge office building where some suppliers of us, have their offices. The platform is open to the public and offers apparently a stunning view over the city. Have to try that out one day. I would say, it is one of the symbols of the development of the city and the country. However the contrast between modern architecture and the "poor" side is still very visible.
